GeoSmartCity Final Conference
Open geo-data for innovative services and user applications towards Smart Cities
Genova, 15 February 2017
Municipality of Genova, Via Garibaldi 9
Geographical Information plays a very important role in the development of Smart Cities, characterized by the integration of data provided by different sources.
GeoSmartCity contributes to the implementation of Smart Cities by establishing a cross-platform, re-usable and open hub able to publish open geographic information and to provide specialized services based on open standards.
GeoSmartCity leverages the use of open (geo)data as recommended by the EU Open Data Strategy and starts from PSI and INSPIRE Directives data infrastructures. Emphasis is put on Municipalities as service and data providers to professionals and citizens, fostering the integration of open municipal geospatial information with other public/private data, providing advanced and specialised services answering to Smart City requirements.
Two important smart city scenarios have been implemented: the integrated management of the Underground and the sustainable implementation of a Green Energy Municipality, supporting the Covenant of Mayors initiative.
The GeoSmartCity final Conference presents the results of the project and its follow-up, to strengthen ties with key stakeholders and to direct towards the integration of the methods and results of the project in the context of local and national governance processes, following the Euro-pean initiatives and trends.
